Description
Khao Yai National Park is about 205 kilometers away from Bangkok. From Bangkok, there are 3 directions for the travel. It is the route of Rangsit-Pathum Thani along the route of Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok to the downtown of Nakhon Nayok and uses the route of Si Nawa-Na Hin Lat and ends at the Highway Number 3077 around Dan Noen Hom up to Khao Yai. It is the route to see the nature fully on both sides. The second direction is from Yaek Hin Kong, Sara Buri and go along Highway Number 33 to the downtown Nakhon Nayok. Then, to Wong Wian Phra Naresuan, Prachin Buri. Turn left to Highway Number 3077 to Khao Yai. The third route is Mittraphap Road around the 56th Kilometer Marker of Pak Chong-Nakhon Ratchasima and go along Thanarat Road to Khao Yai. Tourists can get the information and service at the tourist service center on Khao Yai, which is located in the area of Nakhon Nayok province.

History
It is the first national park of Thailand that received the designation as a heritage park of ASEAN. It is a big forest in Phanom Dongrak mountain range, which consists of complex mountain ranges. It is the origin of many important streams, such as Nakhon Nayok River and Mun River. It is also a fertile source of plants and wild animals. Khao Yai National Park is located in Phanom Dongrak mountain range in the area of 4 provinces 11 districts, which are Nadi District, Kabin Buri District, Prachantakham District, and Mueang District in Prachin Buri Province and Pak Phli District, Ban Na District, and Mueang District in Nakhon Nayok Province. It is the first national park of Thailand, declared on 18 September 1962 and had received the designation of “Heritage Park of ASEAN.” At present, it has a total area of 2,156.55 sq.km, which consists of mixed forest, dry evergreen forest, tropical rainforest, hill evergreen forest, plants, wild animals, and insects. On 14 July 2005, it was declared a “Natural Word Heritage” from UNESCO organization under the name of “Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai”, which covers the area of Khao Yai National Park, Tap Lan, Pang Sida, Ta Phraya, and Dong Yai Wildlife Sanctuary.
