Description
People often think of the sea as a place that harbors human feelings whether it is lonely, sad, crying, happy, missing someone, discouraged, spirited or even in love.
The sea is considered a super popular tourist attraction that is always visited by tourists during any season. Although in some seasons they can’t go swimming, there are still a decent number of tourists travelling to relax at the beach, wake up to see the sunrise, go for a walk to get fresh air and smell the scent of the sea. One of them is Thung Wua Laen Beach in Sa Phli Sub-District, Pathio District, Chumphon Province which is another destination for tourists to relax at. It is a beach with smooth white sand which has a soft feeling on your feet. The beach is clear and clean without any umbrellas and campbeds. There are ghost crabs running around in and out their residential holes. The sea waves roll in to the 3-kilometer-long beach. The beach is full of local trees, the friend of the sea. Wherever there is a sea, there must be coconut trees lined up. Some bend down to the beach and become popular photo spots. There are also swings tied to coconut trunks for tourists to sit and enjoy the wind.
For the origin of the name Thung Wua Laen, myth has it that there were initially so much wildlife living here that hunters regualry came to hunt for the animals. One day, a hunter shot a large wild ox down. The hunters removed half of its body skin but the wild ox stood up and immediately ran into the woods. The hunters kept telling the others until the villagers called this area “Thung Wua Laen” and later called this residential community “Ban Thung Wua Laen”. Since then, if you walk along the beach, you will find sculptures of ox with long black horns in the posture of hecticly running at the beach. Toursists can visit there and take some photos.
In addition, you can hire a boat trip to see the corals, fish, sea anemones or go to the islands such as Ko Chorakhe, Ko Ngam Yai and Ko Ngam Lek. There are also many available accommodation and restaurants to accommodate tourists.
You can travel by taking Phet Kasem Road to Chumphon Province until reaching Tha Sae Crossway, then turn left onto Road No. 3180, keep straight to the end of the road, you will find a right-turn-only route at the road along the beach.
