Description
For those who love making merit, what are the temples that you have been to? Many of you focus on convenience and choose to go to a temple near your home. A lot of people yearn for sacredness and go to the temples which are famous for worship incantation. To mention well-known temples not far from Bangkok, there are several temples you would think of. Today, we would like to present Wat Mongkhon Chindaram in Nakhon Pathom Province. Many of you may not be familiar with this name but if we say Wat Rai Khing, you may get it straightaway as it is a very famous temple.
Wat Rai Khing, a royal monastery, in Rai Khing Sub-District, Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom Province, is a widely-known temple and designated holy in that your wishes will become true if you come to worship at Wat Rai Khing. Due to only a short journey from Bangkok, a great number of belivers pour in to the temple especially on weekends. Visitors usually travel to pay respect to Luang Pho Wat Rai Khing, the principal Buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara in the ordination hall. People believe that Laung Pho Wat Rai Khing is sacred with various legends about the background of Luang Pho Wat Rai Khing that are told. People also come to worship the Buddha’s footprints for aupiciousness.
In addition to paying homage to Luang Pho Wat Rai Khing to pray for blessings, there is a Sunday market called “Talat Nat Wat Rai Khing” which is founded by the cooperation of the temple and the people in the community to promote the temple’s tourism and generate income for people in the community. Travelers from several provinces flow in to do some shopping after making merit at Wat Rai Khing. It is another place that is created from the collaboration of the temple and people in the community resulting in the community’s harmony and spiritual attachment. The community maintains and supports the religion and their affection reflects the temple’s success and the Wat Rai Khing Market, which has lead to numerous travelers visiting until Wat Rai Khing has become another important tourist attraction of Nakhon Pathom Province.
If you are interested to visit and make merit and Wat Rai Khing, you can travel by car: take Phet Kasem Road, pass Suan Samphran and then you will see the direction signs to Wat Rai Khing. By public buses: No.84 Wat Rai Khing-Klong San, No.556 Wat Rai Khing-Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station. By public bus from the Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal (Pinklao): Bangkok-Nakhon Pathom, Bangkok-Ratchaburi, Bangkok-Bangli, Bangkok-Suphan Buri. Get off at the top of the road to Wat Rai Khing and use the local public transport to arrive at Wat Rai Khing. By van from Central Pinklao: Pinklao-Rai Khing route.
