Description
Khao Kha Archaeological Site is located in Ban Khao Kha, Moo 11 Saopao Subdistrict, Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. To travel to Khao Kha Archaeological Site, you can take Highway 401 (Asian Highway A 18) through Tha Sala District to Sichon District; when arriving Km. 99, turn left to go along the road Pakdhaban - Khao Khao about 4 km, then you will reach Khao Kha, with the total distance of about 58 kilometers.
History
Khao Kha Archaeological Site is the most important temple among the Brahmins temples found in the area of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Sichon District. The archaeological sites in this area demonstrate the continued development of the community. In the community, Khao Kha is the center of the religious beliefs of Brahmanism in which is often described along with the Mount Meru as a center.
Khao Kha Archaeological Site, in the past, was compared to the castle of Shiva as it was a great community center in the Southern Peninsula about a thousand years ago while the glory still remains to later generations to learn for the faith which is the origin of the cultural heritage.
