Description
Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand, is located in Chiang Mai at 2,565-meter above sea level. The geography is mixed between tropical rain forest, pine forest, and mixed forest. The weather is cold throughout the year, particularly in winter when the mist can be visible and the frost sometimes happens surprisingly to amaze tourists.

History
Doi Inthanon National Park, the sixth national park in Thailand, was announced as national park in 1972 (B.E. 2515). It occupied 482.4 km2 covering A. Chom Thong, A. Mae Cham, A. Mae Wang, and Doi Lo, Chiang Mai. It was known in the past as “Doi Luang” or “Doi Ang Ka”. The word “Doi Luang” refers to its mighty size, so people called it “Doi Luang” (meaning huge or large in the northern dialect). Due to the story, there was a pond, where many crows gathered, situated 300-meter far from the mountain to the west so it called “Ang Ka”, and finally named “Doi Ang Ka”. However, some said that “Ang Ka” .
