Banyan Tree Shrine, Kanchanaburi
Wai Niao Tha Maka Kanchanaburi 71120
0 Points ( 0 Review )
Description
This banyan tree, which 27 people can embrace it, is located on Mae Klong riverside, Tha Maka District, Kanchanaburi. Its perimeter is 18 meters and 25 meters high. Each branch is like the big truck covering the old shrine built in Ayutthaya period. Thus, local people call it “Chao Tuek shrine in the hollow".
Department of Fine Art analyzes the red bricks and bricks of the shrine and found that it was in late Ayutthaya period, so it is assumed that this tree is more than 320 years old. There is a story that merchants always drooped here to worship the sacred object here when they came to trade and asked for the good luck and success.
Currently, it is the center of belief and faith. On 13 April of every year, people organize merit making here.
